Mercurius

Mercurius is an Over-The-Air Platform that helps mobile operators to manage USIM cards remotely. USIM Remote administration is enabled by a standard application (specified by ETSI - European Telecommunications Standards Institute) running on USIM card that executes administrative commands sent by the Platform over a SMS or GPRS data channel.

Mercurius also can distribute and manage JavaCard applications (applets ranging from 3k to 40k) in a secure area of the SIM using the remote administration commands provided by the Global Platform standard specification. The Applets can be remotely installed, removed, activated and disabled. JavaCard applets can be created for a wide range of different purposes: from menu-based applets for an easy access to services in VAS area (news services via SMS messaging, etc..) to applets for the Management of Mobile Payment Services (using the encryption capabilities of the USIM).

Mercurius is a modular platform that allows the management of millions of end user, thanks to its high scalability. Mercurius also allows the management a high number of user profile, maintaining a copy structure, in its database, synchronized with the file system and to the applications installed on each USIM that Mercurius manages.
